My friend was stuck in a certain position in life where I did not know where I could help him. I did not even know how I could help him. He just seemed lost. Lost in space. He told me he felt like a little blip in this huge universe that we don't even know about ninety nine percent of. He just felt completely lost in the storm, and I really felt sorry for him. I think he felt lost because he had always tried to do really well in life despite having a hard time. He made sure he got good school grades but it was as if luck was just always against him and never on his side - ever.

I decided to offer him a job. He really did need one and as a good friend of his, I thought it would be nice of me to allow him to rake up some experience behind him, so I decided to make him a salesman who would go out on the road and give general quotes for my life insurance company. Basically his job was to persuade people how amazing my life insurance company was and that my life insurance company would give the best insurance quote there was possible. He was actually really good at this job and it was not long before business for my life insurance company was booming, and I was more than impressed.

I saw something in my friend. I saw something I had not seen in many people before. I saw talent, an unrecognized beauty and elegance and grace. The way he spoke, the way he dressed, the way he held himself, the way he treated people, the way he just was. His manner, his attitude, his behaviour - everything. It did not take a genius to wonder how he was such a successful business man. I decided I wanted to give this guy much more responsibility, so I promoted him to sales management.

Sure enough, business was booming again. He really was an asset to the company. I was so proud of him, and even more importantly, as he became more involved within this career, he began to feel less lost and began to find himself. He became happier and smiled much more often, and I knew that it is good to just give people a chance sometimes. Sometimes people just need to have a break in life.
