As I am recently married I realised I needed to look into a life insurance company that could fulfil both mine and my husband's needs.

We were married abroad and as I have lived most of my time abroad I was not hugely awarea UK life insurance companythat would suit me although I am a UK citizen. I felt my lack of knowledge rather embarassing as I have always had other types of insurance such as travel, buildings and contents, accidental damage and my parents, family and friends have always been imsured.

My husband already had a life insurance company as he serves in the armyso it seemed logical to compare his with the other group companies that I had put together in order to limit any non pay out or liability from each separate life insurance company disagreement for any reason.

We then realised, however, that because he is in the military I would not be covered even though, strictly speaking, I am his dependant, although I would receive a pay out from his company if the worst were to happen...what about if the situation were to be the other way round? So, I began looking around and comparing both myself and on price comparison websites to see what I could find.

For me I feel it is also very important to receive a good level of customer service with any company and I also felt it may be an advantage if I knew the company or if someone I knew has been an existing customer and could perhaps recommend a company to me.

I started to use all methods possible to find the right advice and even spoke directly to my Bank and Building Society so I could actually sit down and speak with someone face to face, which I always find easier. Also it means if you want to go ahead straight away and you have the relevant paperwork you have piece of mind immediately.

I eventually settled on a short list of three different companies that offer several different levels of cover. I can truly say I am thrilled with the results and now, after being happily married for over a year and newly pregnant,I really can sleep at night knowing that if the worst were to happen I wouldn't leave my lovely husband and soon to be new born baby with any financial worries if I were no longer around.
